How about a chart that shows the price of silver adjusted for inflation over the past 20 years or so.

 What a bunch of saps you guys are. Look at the numbers and you call silver a good long term investment? It is.........an investment in the poor house.

A warm welcome to you too.

I don't look at silver as an investment, for me it is a "wealth flux capacitor". Or are you referring to "paper silver"?

Thanks for the warm welcome friend.:cheerful: I'm glad that you realize it's not an investment. That should make it easy for you to accept your losses in the future.

So what exactly do you consider the future?

Stop it, you're breaking my heart. :bawling:

:hmmmm:I must have been deluded:smokin: to think that gold and silver's track record over the past 4000+ years represented a lasting store of value. All fiat currencies of the past have failed miserably:deal:, but the dollar will be different. Thank you for bringing me to my senses, you truly are the Voice of Reason.

I'm doing just that Voice. I'll consider throwing a silver dime in your tin (if you can afford tin then) cup some day.:bash:

Since no one knows the future, your voice is seen to be of no reason. You don't know me, or know if I own any silver to have loss or gain. You'll have to do WAY better than that.

Rattle away! You've given a few of your views, but so far you haven't answered any questions as to what you consider a viable investment.

p.s. - glad you're back

Thanks,:wavey: how about gold and silver for starts? I recently made a huge quick profit in both of them. The difference between me and some of you guys is that PMs are not a religion to me. I'm not stacking bags of it in a cave waiting for the end of the world. I also made a huge quick profit on the DOW. Funny thing is I can't tell the difference between the cash from each as it sits safely in my bank account.:proud:

In addition, for those who are waiting for a return of 79-80 silver prices, you better let the Hunt brothers know that they better start scaming the market again.

Congrats on your profits!

Safe in the bank, huh? Earning what kinda interest? I hope it's more than 10%, because I think that's a conservative estimate of real inflation. Otherwise you are losing value as we type. If you're just parking it there short term before your next move, great. And what if, say, there is a collapse and the bank closes? What will you do?

Religion? Never been much for it. KingsSon would be happy to debate you on PM's & scripture.

Vast majority here at GIM agree with you that there is a time to sell silver & gold and exchange it for other things, whether that be dollars, real estate or toilet paper. The question of when to sell is a matter of constant debate here. One Sir Ponce, whom you have met is very fond of the phrase, "the first time I sold my silver", which was very close to the top in 1980. He bought back in at the bottom.

It seems there are two major differences between you and the typical GIM member (if there is such a thing) is how long we believe this bull will last and how high it will go. The second is that you trust the US Govt. and the Federal Reserve as stewards of your financial life.

Don't worry about my money in the bank. It's only there until I'm ready to make my next kill. I'm not interested in talking religion with any bible thumbing silver bug.

Hang on, got Bunker Hunt on the line here...

...static... what? Tell him to call the government and start releasing silver from the strategic stockpile? What's that? Tell the treasury to start issuing silver quarters again? You're breakin' up, dude. Later, man.
